The heritage of St. Thomas UCC traces back to January 1, 1848, when a dedicated group of local Christians gathered to establish a new place of worship. This vision led to the formation of the St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Church. From its earliest days, the congregation was served by two pastors—one Lutheran and one Reformed—and celebrated its inaugural dedication service in November of that same year.
By 1892, the growing community reached a significant milestone with the laying of the cornerstone for the church building we call home today.
In 1971, the Lutheran and Reformed congregations voted to merge, officially joining the United Church of Christ (UCC). Today, St. Thomas is a committed member of the Mountain Valley Association within the Keystone Conference of the UCC.
In our most recent chapter, our faith family has expanded through mergers with the congregations of Bethlehem’s Church of the Manger and Trinity UCC. As these neighboring churches closed their doors, their spirit lived on through a shared journey with St. Thomas. We have also been blessed to welcome members from other local churches further strengthening our unified tapestry of faith.

He is not here, He has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
